
Whether you’re setting off on a long road trip or just need to hop in the car for a trip around the corner, it’s a good idea to keep an emergency roadside kit with you in case you break down or run into any other unexpected situation.
You’ll want to check your spare tire at least yearly to make sure it’s properly inflated. You can also include a can of compressed air with a sealant in it for fixing flat tires, easily found at any automotive shop for repairing unexpected flats. A tool box with necessary items can be stowed in your trunk along with a set of jumper cables, emergency flares, a flashlight, a cell phone charger, duct tape and a first aid kit.
Always keep fresh drinking water and some non-perishable food on hand, especially if you have small children traveling with you.
