Your vehicle's engine is made up of a network of components that must interact with each other in order for your vehicle to run properly. Even the smallest malfunction or damage can leave you stranded. Take belts and hoses, for instances. Most Honolulu drivers probably don't give them much thought. However, the CUTTER MITSUBISHI-AIEA team wants you to know why these parts matter.
Belts and hoses can wear down rapidly. Cracks and stretching occur over time, which can lead to faulty performance or even a complete breakdown. Most vehicles have a serpentine belt that powers important parts like the air conditioner compressor, water pump and alternator. Hoses move fluids such as antifreeze throughout your engine.
We recommend having your belts and hoses checked regularly. For belts, it's best to inspect them about every three months or 3,000 miles. Hoses can go a little longer between checks, every six months or 6,000 miles.
